Vision therapy helps children with math problems!

There’s a great new article by Dr. Sidney Groffman, Professor Emeritus at SUNY College of Optometry in the Dec. 2009 Optometry and Vision Development Journal.  Dr. Groffman states, “The incidence of individuals  with a mathematics learning disability is between 6-7% of the population.”   Dr. Groffman reviews a particular ability called subitizing, which is a precusor of math skills.  Dr. Groffman helped to develop a subitizing vision therapy computer program that has been designed and based upon theories and experiemental data appropriate for improving math skills.  We use it as a part of our vision therapy program. Check it out!
