How a Leader Needs to Be: Bringing Authenticity and Hope to the Workforce with Pamela Stambaugh (Episode #122)

Pamela StambaughDr. Lynn Hellerstein of Vision Beyond Sight speaks with Pamela Stambaugh, MBA, International Coach Federation certified executive coach, certified woman owned business, to talk about her vision for what leadership needs to bring, with the need for hope and authenticity being as significant as it is among younger members of the workforce today. Authenticity is all about being vulnerable and the willingness to not be right. Hope is about finding it within yourself and inspiring others to recognize it. Pam presents her 52-week Success Accelerators program for middle market companies, aimed to make effective and inspiring leaders, not just managers. Pam also touches on how to use AI for factual research, and the importance of free speech and honoring other people’s opinions and views.

About Pamela Stambaugh:

My mission is to support leaders in being accountable, awake, and aware as leaders, that they show up in a way that motivates and inspires their team to perform as contributors to something bigger than themselves.  Who a leader is BEING makes a bigger difference to discretionary effort than anything else. The possibility is that leaders lead with integrity, with love, and listen for people’s greatness.

I grew up in Wyoming, went to Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR, and was the oldest of 4 children.  My father was an Episcopal minister and psychologist.  I bring a zest for lifelong learning and willingness to not know everything before taking a risk.  I moved to San Diego and completed my MBA at the University of San Diego and have lived here since 1984.

My husband, Larry and I live in downtown San Diego.  We belong to the University Club Symphony Towers, where I currently serve on the Board of Governors.  I also serve on two committees, one of which I chair.  We are also members and supporters of the San Diego Symphony.

Most recently, I created a 52-week curriculum, called the Success Accelerators for time-challenged managers, with a focus on teaching managers how to BE leaders.  I have three fellow professionals helping me take these to market and deliver the curriculum as well.  I am inviting affiliates to support our outreach into the target market, which is the middle market.

For managers of teams in organizations that are interested in improving their self-awareness, I am giving away the Harrison Assessment experience and debrief.  I will reveal their natural strengths and their blind spots too, so that they can go to work on improving the blind spots! “The workforce that are under 40 demand authenticity. You can’t bring out your ‘I’m the boss’ hat and expect them to care. They’ll just move on. If they don’t know who you are as an individual and you can’t be vulnerable with them and say ‘I screwed up,’ then they don’t have respect.” – Pamela Stambaugh
