Now I see why the American Lung Association has a stair climb to raise money. This experience truly made me appreciate my lungs and how blessed I am that I can breathe in a normal manner. Thanks to Annie, my daughter, we made the climb in 20 mins. I was surprised how winded I was so early in the climb. But with some 30 sec. rest breaks, I could revitalize and continue up another 10 floors until I needed a break again.
The winner RAN up the stairs in 6mins, 18 seconds. Unbelievable! I think I was still taking a rest break on the 15th floor after 6 mins 🙂
We saw some very fit runners, and some very out-of-shape overweight folks. All were there with a mission: to help those who can’t breathe normally because of birth, disease and/or injuries to their lungs.
Thanks to all of you who supported, encouraged and inspired me to join the 2011 Fight For Air Climb the Stairs this happen.
