Tour de Optometry – Awesome Success for the 7th Year!

All of the 22 Schools & Colleges of Optometry in the US and Canada have been visited by a  (College of Optometrists in Vision Development) COVD  Board Member or Past-President.   The Tour presentation is the mission of the COVD Tour de Optometry Committee.  These visits continue to spark interest in vision therapy by bringing “private practice” to the school and colleges.  This past year’s focus was on the “3D’s of 3D Vision…Discomfort, Dizziness and Lack of Depth.”  As with past presentations, practice management, research, video cases, and resources are provided in the tour presentation.

More students after graduating optometry school are showing interest in vision therapy and vision rehabilitation residency.  Optometry school faculty are amazed at the increased interest and awareness of vision therapy by many students.

I am honored to be part of this great program.  Thanks to the COVD Board of Directors and Co-Chairs, Drs. Carole Hong and Carol Scott, the Tour de Optometry has already started its 2011-2012 school year.

We are grateful to Mountain States Congress of Optometry who has generously awarded COVD grants for over $65,000 for the Tour mission.  Without everyone’s contributions, the Tour would not have been such a success.
